Dear GBC Family:

Happy October! This month, I will be continuing my sermon series on Godly Relationships.

We’re going to look at how we relate to one another and to the World. Over the next four

weeks, we will cover "Burden Bearing," "The Meek and Lowly," "Being God's Carpenters," and

"In the Workplace."

We have some fun events coming up this month:

We will be hosting a booth at the Annual Gordonsville Fried Chicken Festival (10 AM—4 PM). This is a great way to meet more people in our community.
Trunk or Treat is on Saturday the 31st, from 6 to 7:30 PM. We would love to have at least 20 trunks this year. If you would like to volunteer, please reach out to George or Scotty Koneski.

I also have an announcement. We are putting together an Ad Hoc Committee to begin planning for our next Homecoming! We are planning for September 2027. This will be a big effort, and we will need many hands and prayers. If you would like to volunteer, please give me a call.

CLERK'S CORNER

Excerpts from the Minutes of the September 9, 2026 Business Meeting:

That the proceeds from the Fall Festival be distributed as follows:

1⁄2 (one half) for Hope for Appalachia

1⁄2 (one half) for the Stefan Home (Orange)

That the revised Sunday School Teachers and Workers for September 1, 2026--August 31, 2027 be approved as presented.

That the following proposed Bylaw changes be printed in the October newsletter and two (2) bulletins prior to the next regular Business Meeting in November, 2026.

The changes are listed below in bold and underlined:

II. Organization

Section 3. Church Committees

e. Building and Grounds Committee

The Building and Grounds Committee shall consist of a building chairman and a grounds chairman and seven (7) other members. Three(3) members shall be elected each year to serve a three (3) year term. The duties of the committee shall include the supervision of the church custodian, and the purchasing of necessary supplies and equipment for the custodian, and the upkeep, maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and related equipment. The Committee shall meet at least quarterly and submit minutes of the meeting to the church office.

s. Missions Committee

The Missions Committee shall consist of at least three (3) members, including the chairman. The Missions Committee shall work with the pastor to promote all phases of mission endeavors, and shall help stimulate a missionary spirit within the congregation. The Committee shall meet quarterly and submit minutes of the meeting to the church office.

That the following messengers for the Baptist General Association of Virginia, November 9-11, 2026 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, be approved to represent Gordonsville Baptist Church: Jason Bird and Jeannie Bird. If others wish to attend the meeting and represent the church that they stand approved also. We are allowed up to fifteen (15) messengers for the 2026 meeting.
